This is Gylfie and Lyze. As you can see, they are both missing a hind leg. Gylfie is the Appaloosa missing the right hind leg, and Lyze is the grey missing the left hind leg. So, they are both going to get prosthetic legs. We’ll see if the operation is successful!

Here is Gylfie’s almost complete leg. I just need to add the front, straps, and padding.

Gylfie’s prosthetic

And it’s complete! Gylfie is taking to it quite well, and seems very happy. It has three buckles, as you can see. I’ll add more pictures of her without on.

And this is Lyze’s completed leg. He needed his leg sooner that Gylfie, so I made his fast and forgot to take pictures! But, he’s doing well now.

Look who we’ve taken in! I found this little guy in a basket of toys at the thrift store. He too has a broken leg, (hence the reason he’s leaning on Lyze) and so we’re going to give him a hoof!

I’ve cut the dowel for his leg….

Checking the fit. He has made friends with Gylfie and Lyze, and they won’t leave him by himself anywhere!

OK, I have cut out his hoof and painted the dowel silver. Also, Friend time!

And it’s done!! Oh my goodness, he’s adorable! And he will be sitting on the wounded warrior shelf until I build my vet/rescue barn. I honestly thought I wouldn’t ever add anything else to this post, but I was apparently wrong! In fact, I am now starting a Breyer Rescue Service. I think the facility will be called “New Hooves, a Home and Second Life for Equines.” Or something like that. So, here I go with another project!
